Land & Sea
24” x 10”
The stark and haunting beauty of the white fan coral led me to create "Land & Sea". By combining coral with elements of porcelain clay and horsehair impressions, I express my wonder and awe of the natural world.
Raku firing is a very exciting process whereby pottery is removed from the kiln while at very high heat. I use a Raku style firing process by removing my pottery from the kiln at 1050 degrees. The horsehair is applied to the surface and burns away, leaving a black carbon imprint. Horsehair pottery is an artform of creating unique one of a kind designs that cannot be replicated.
