Raku firing is a very exciting process whereby claywork is removed from the kiln while at very high heat. I use a Raku style firing process by removing the piece from the kiln at 1050 degrees. The horsehair is applied and burned away through a four firing process, leaving a black or white carbon imprint. Actual horsehair is threaded through an African tribal brass bead for the final sculptural element on the lid. Horsehair pottery is an artform of creating unique one of a kind designs that cannot be replicated.
